Illegal Coq Fights & Virgins Disgraced – That’ll be the 2011 ESM Xmas Party then…..

Friday 2nd December saw the annual Christmas party at our lovely club house, Denise and her crew once again did an incredible job of looking after us, 2011 also saw the introduction of the ESM Vodka Jelly, possibly the tastiest way to enjoy a couple measures of vodka I can think of.

With 62 members in attendance we had an almighty 21 club virgins or in the case of Alan Moyes and a few others returning members. Those who tried to avoid the fact they should have been re-initiated do not think you are off the hook it has been noted……. Laura Robb & Hilary Neill..! The virgins were once again put through their paces and welcomed to the club in true ESM style. Note to virgins 2012: do not…I repeat do not try to rub the V off your forehead….! You have been warned..!

This year once again saw Sophie (its my microphone) Ashcroft dishing out fines for everything from , laughing at your own fines to starting nude armies at T in the Park to being in a club relationship. All agreed that this a job that comes far too naturally to Sophie and so even though she has stepped down as el Captain we hope she will agree to take on this role for years to come.

Our raffle again was well supported by businesses across the city, a huge thanks to The Players Lounge, Charlie Miller Hairdressing, Lebowskis, Grand Cru, The New York Steam Packet and Ricks for their generous donations. We encourage all members to return the gesture in kind!

The story of the night had to be the coaches challenge, Ian Chapman of the girls club versus the man….the legend Flynny….I am please to report Flynny did the business….not only beating Chapman in a pint race but then giving him a good seeing to as well. A night to be proud of I am sure all will agree.

To the members who came, spent their money, bought their raffle tickets and generally speaking behaved themselves…… thank you. With out you we wouldn’t have had the night that it was. Details of the end of season dinner will be out soon and we hope to see you all there!

EGM, 1st December, 7pm Clubhouse

With Club Captain Sophie embarking on adventures new in Birmingham, it falls to the club to elect a new club captain.

This is going to happen on Thursday at the Clubhouse (upstairs).   In order to make this very important choice, we’d like to encourage as many members as possible to attend, and in particular if you’d like to be considered for the position your attendance is required.

Saturday 26th Nov at the Boneyard

On Saturday the Ladies 1s are also playing at home at 1230 followed by the men’s 1s at 2pm, followed by the Ladies 2s game against Watsons.

All teams would love your support!

 The ladies 1s are currently top of National 2 and the Men’s 1s are gunning to stay in the top half of the league before the league divides at Christmas. After the ladies 1s match, they are planning to stay on and watch the Ladies 2s, then everyone will be heading back to the clubhouse for match teas, drinks, pizza later on and then into town for more drinks and dancing.

Please make a big effort to come back to the clubhouse after the match. There will also be a revival of the famous ESM secret santa. If you want to participate in this, please bring a pressie worth no more than £5 which will be included in the lucky dip.

Christmas Party! Friday 2nd December

Ladies and Gentlemen

You are cordially invited to one of the biggest nights of theEdinburgh social calendar, the Christmas Party. Following on from 2010 that saw fights over fair maidens, club virgins failing to get past go on their initiations and the highest number of club fines ever issued (thank you Sophie) in one night we invite you to come and do it all again!

For your ticket you will receive a three course meal that beats anything you will find in any restaurant, some of the finest vintage wines this side of Uddingston and of course your choice of mince pies for directing at your club virgin of choice. Speaking of the club virgins, boys and girls alike will once again fight it out to show they have what it takes to be true ESM Hockey Club members under the supervision of the hardest drinks task master known in any hockey club!!!

Santa and his merry Elf will be making a jolly return, he will have his list, although knowing this Santa I doubt he will have checked it twice! Elf abuse is not encouraged and will in all likelihood lead to you receiving a fine from club Supremo Sophie….you have been warned!

Tickets will be going on sale soon with information to follow from your captains! We hope as many of you as possible can make it and look forward to an even better night than last year!

BOTH A and B teams  playing Inverleith at 9.50 and Cala at 11.05
